Putting the fun in fundraisers, two Vancouver queer organizations are holding their fall charitable events this weekend, which means it's your chance to get out there to support them while connecting with the community.

First up, on Saturday (October 1), Out on Screen (the folks who run Out in Schools and the Vancouver Queer Film Festival) is holding its 14th annual fall gala.

The evening, hosted by Carl Meadows and Les Dick, will include a live art auction and a raffle draw; live entertainment by Isolde N. Barron, Adam Zapple, and DJ O Show; hors d'oeuvres; and a cash bar. It'll run from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the BMO Theatre Centre (162 West 1st Avenue) in Olympic Village and tickets are $45.

For those who want to opt for the $190 VIP tickets, there's a three-course dinner at 5 p.m. hosted by Meadows at Italian Kitchen, a chauffeured ride to the venue, and a complimentary drink at the venue (along with a $50 tax receipt for the ticket).

For more details, visit the event's webpage on Eventbrite.

The next day (October 2), it's off to the races with the Queer Arts Festival.

They're holding Sport of Queens & Kings: QAF Day at the Races, an afternoon of food, art, and horsing around. It'll run from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Hastings Racecourse (188 N Renfrew Street).

Dressing up to the nines (or tens) is encouraged and entry is by donation to the festival.

For full details, visit the event's Facebook page.

Since they're one day after the other so you've got your weekend social calendar planned out for you—now all you have to do is RSVP and pick out an outfit, and you'll be good to go.
