In a message on the U2 website, lead singer Bono has revealed that recovering from his November bicycle accident has been more difficult than he expected.

He noted that he broke his hand, shoulder, elbow, and face, and he's been left with a "titanium elbow" after the crash in New York's Central Park.

"As I write this, it is not clear that I will ever play guitar again," Bono wrote. "The band have reminded me that neither they nor Western civilization are depending on this."

He added, however, that "the pain of my bike accident didn't compare with the disappointment of cancelling a week" on the Jimmy Fallon Show.

"He made it worse by being a better Bono than I could ever be," Bono quipped.
