Nick Cave gets his own skateboard

Nick Cave has been associated with a variety of disciplines over the course of his long and storied career. The Australian-born icon is most famous as a musician, but he’s also established himself as an actor, film-score composer, and author. All that’s another way of saying that the man might just be the most amazing living multi-discipline artist on the planet.

How cool is Cave? Well let’s just say that you’ll be hard-pressed to find another singer who—five decades into his career—finds himself honoured with his own limited-edition skateboard.

With Cave’s involvement, the Melbourne-based skateboard company Fast Times has released a special deck titled “Nature Boy”. Designed by San Francisco artist Chuck Sperry, the board also features lyrics from “Nature Boy”, a track off Cave’s 2004 release Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus.

One of the boards, on view in the video below, can be yours for $99.95 in Australian dollars and cents. It should be noted that Fast Times described the 57-year-old—and usually impeccably dressed—Cave as a “good friend and customer”. That presumably means that, when he’s not on the road, the leader of the Bad Seeds can be found catching serious air-time in drained backyard pools, wearing, of course, his favourite yellow patent leather shoes.
