Ex-Scorpions will infest Seattle, no fear of getting stung in Vancouver

Old-school hard-rock freaks in Vancouver—the ones who remember when The Tokyo Tapes was released, anyway—might want to consider a couple of road trips to Washington State this winter. Two concerts featuring former members of the Scorpions are scheduled to take place in Seattle, but no local dates have been announced.

Pity.

First up is the XG Extreme Guitar Tour show January 27 at Studio Seven, which will feature guitarist Uli Jon Roth—who played on most of the Scorpions' Seventies albums—along with Red Zone Riders (featuring primo shredder Vinnie Moore) and Black Knights Rising (featuring guitarist Craig Goldy and drum legend Vinnie Appice). BKR specializes in covering the classic works of Dio, Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, and you know that can't be bad.

The second ex-Scorp attack comes March 28, also at Studio Seven, when the Michael Schenker Group hits town. As well as famed Flying V exponent Schenker—who was only 17 when he played on the Scorpions' 1972 debut album, Lonesome Crow—the current MSG lineup also includes longtime Scorps bassist Francis Buchholz and drummer Herman Rarebell.

That's the same rhythm section that helped rock you like a hurricane back in '84.
