The R2R Film Festival and Kids Culture Film Series presents Felix at the Rio Theatre (1660 East Broadway Street) on Sunday (January 25) at 1:45 p.m.

Felix is a South African film from director Roberta Durrant that tells the story of an aspiring musician.

Felix is a 14-year-old boy with dreams of becoming a saxophone player like his late father; however, his mother does not approve. After receiving a scholarship to attend an elite music school, Felix gains the help of his father’s former bandmates to prepare for the school’s jazz concert.

This film is recommended for audiences age eight and up and was the winner of the Youth Jury Award for Best Film during the 2014 R2R Festival.

The screening will be preceded by a free workshop on film criticism for young audiences at the “Community Stage” at the Vancity Community Branch (1675 Commercial Drive) at 11:30 a.m.

Tickets to Felix are $9 for adults and $6 for children 12 years and under. Tickets can be purchased online in advance.
