The Canucks and the Lightning each had plenty of power-play opportunities, but all of their goals came at even strength in Tampa Bay's 4-1 victory tonight.

After a scoreless first period, Valterri Filpulla put the Lighting in front at 13:32 of the second period. Steven Stamkos and Ryan Callahan recorded assists.

Then the Lightning scored two goals in the first 4:16 of the third period—one by Alex Killorn and the other by Brian Boyle—before Frank Corrado finally got the Canucks on the scoresheet at 8:09 of the final frame.

An empty netter by Killorn at 17:34 finished off the visitors, who were coming off three straight wins on the road.

The Canucks were penalized three times in the first period and Tampa Bay piled up four consecutive penalties in the second period. But the Canucks could not convert on a two-man advantage early in the period.

The Lightning's third penalty of the second period was cancelled out nearly a minute later when Alex Edler took his second minor of the game.

Midway through the third period, two Tampa Bay players were in the box and again, the Canucks couldn't score. Had they found the net, it would have been a one-goal game. Instead, Radim Vrbata was sent off for tripping before the first Lightning penalty had elapsed.

It was the Canucks' final game before the All-Star break.
