Things were looking grim for the Canucks as they trailed the Minnesota Wild 2-0 in the third period of today's afternoon game at Rogers Arena.

So when the Canucks appeared to score after a point shot by Alex Edler, the crowd was delighted.

But their euphoria was short-lived when a referee disallowed the goal because Radim Vrbata was in the crease.

Not long afterward, the Wild's Thomas Vanek drilled a slapshot over the right shoulder of Canucks goalie Ryan Miller, seemingly putting the game out of reach at 7:08 of the third frame.

The Canucks didn't give up though, scoring two goals in just over a minute less than seven minutes later.

Ronalds Kenins started it off with his first goal, followed by Daniel Sedin's 10th of the season.

But an empty-netter by Jason Zucker finished off the Canucks at 19:05 of the third period.

Vancouver outshot Minnesota 37-19 but was unable to score on four power plays.

Vancouver remains tied for seventh in the Western Conference with Calgary, though the Canucks have two games in hand.
