On December 1, outdoor-carolling competition Yule Duel will take over Gastown's Water Street.

Starting at 6 p.m., over 20 local choirs will be showcasing holiday songs in hopes of performing in a sing-off on the main stage. You can vote for your favourite choir by buying a button for $5 and casting a vote.

Near 8 p.m., a panel of celebrity judges will select their favourite choirs from those with the most votes, with the top two choirs duelling it out on stage.

This year, participating choirs include Saint James Music Academy Choir, the Lions Gate Chorus, and Vancouver Pops Choir. Judging the competition will be John Fluevog, Morna Edmondson, Mike Forrester, and Heather Deal.

The event is also a fundraiser for May's Place, a hospice that provides compassionate end-of-life care to residents of the Downtown Eastside.

You can keep in touch will all the latest Yule Duel developments through Twitter and Facebook.
