British pop star Sam Smith may come home with the most hardware from tonight's Grammy Awards.

At the age of 22, he's nominated for six Grammys, tying Beyonce and Pharell Williams for the most. All three are up for Album of the Year.

But they'll all likely be upstaged by Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney when they perform Rihanna's new single "FourFiveSeconds".

It's easy to see why the show's producers are bringing this trio together on-stage.

Each appeals to distinctly different groups of music fans that, when pulled together, encompasses a massive audience.

That adds up to big bucks for the vendors of whatever products will be shilled during the commercials.

And isn't that what the Grammys are really all about?

Last year's broadcast attracted 28.5 million viewers, according to CBS.

That was high by historical standards, but still off from the record audience for the 2012 Grammys. This show came shortly after the death of Whitney Houston and attracted a reported 40 million viewers.

Meanwhile, Canadians Drake and Arcade Fire each have multiple opportunities to take home a Grammy tonight.

Drake is up to 22 nominations in his career, but he's only won once.

Drake promises to behave if he wins an elusive Grammy.

Drake's "0 to 100/The Catch-Up" is a finalist in best rap song and best rap performance. He's also up for a Grammy for best rap/sung collaboration for "Tuesday".

Arcade Fire's Reflektor is nominated for best alternative music album. It's also in the running for best music video for "We Exist".

Another Canadian who's been nominated is Deadmau5 for best dance/electronic album for While (12). And Tegan and Sarah are up for best song written for visual media for "Everything is Awesome!!!", which was part of in The Lego Movie.
