For $59 million you could buy 15 homes in Point Grey or splurge on this one downtown Vancouver condo

For the last year and a bit, the Straight has irregularly documented Vancouver real-estate listings that some people might describe as possibly priced beyond their value.

For example, last month we drew attention to a Dunbar teardown for which someone was asking an even $5 million. Back in March, we wrote about an East Vancouver home listed for $2 million that was literally on fire. And last July, we reported on a studio in Kitsilano for which the owner posted an ad on Craigslist that stated the monthly rent would be determined via a bidding war.

For our ninth installment in this ongoing series, we’re going to do something a little bit different. Today, instead of focusing on the hysteria that is Vancouver’s West sSde, we’re going to look at a downtown condo.

Unit 3101 at 277 Thurlow Street, to be precise. Priced at $58.9 million.

It’s a four-bedroom condo, which is very hard to find these days. And it features a very nice rooftop patio.

“A once-in-a-life-time opportunity to own the most prestigious penthouse in Vancouver,” reads a description on the agent’s website. “Nestled in the most respected oceanfront neighbourhood in Coal Harbour in downtown.”

While Vancouver has spent the last few years obsessing over expensive homes in Point Grey, it’s worth remembering there’s a whole city out there with fun listings across just about all of it.
