You've Got Craft: Eve's Crackers pack nutritious crunch

    1 of 2 2 of 2

In anticipation of Got Craft?’s holiday edition, taking place from December 10 to 11 at the Pipe Shop Building (115 Victory Ship Way, North Vancouver), we’re getting to know some of the fair’s 80-plus independent designers and makers.

Today, we meet Eve Laird, owner and cracker baker at Eve’s Crackers.

      Who are you

Hi, I’m Eve and I am the owner and cracker baker at Eve’s Crackers.

      What’s your shtick

I started my company in wonderful Whistler this summer. I needed a snack food that packed crunch and flavour but didn’t leave me feeling undernourished and over-stuffed.

After a lot of experimentation, the first flavour of Eve’s Crackers was born right out of my home kitchen. My crackers are delightfully yummy and just happen to be free from wheat, eggs, dairy, added oil, and refined sugar.

      My ideal stocking stuffer

Well, of course, Eve’s Crackers are the best stocking stuffer! I think I have to say that, don’t I? In all honesty, finding a healthy snack in your stocking that would hold you over before turkey dinner would be a delight.

I would hope for my favourite flavour: chili pepper pumpkin seed. Stocking stuffer or not, I know that my mid-day Christmas snack will be Eve’s Crackers with smashed avocado.

      This year, I’m gifting…

Anything artisanal and locally made. I am so inspired by all the bakers and makers I meet at markets. Their products are well thought out, unique, and, at the risk of sounding sappy, made with love.

One product that I will definitely be buying as a stocking stuffer is Goodmallows’ spiced chai marshmallows. They are so flavourful and true to the taste of chai that popping them into your hot chocolate over the holidays would be heavenly.

Tickets to Got Craft? are $3 in advance online or $5 at the door. For more information about the event, or to purchase tickets, click here.
