The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors the European Union Film Festival

      From November 18 to 30, the European Union Film Festival takes over the Cinematheque (1131 Howe).

      The event is presented with the Vancouver consulates and the Ottawa embassies of the member states of the European Union, with support from the Delegation of the European Union to Canada.

      This year's 19th annual cinematic showcase features new and recent films from across Europe, including award winners, domestic blockbusters, festival circuit favourites, and official Oscar submissions.

      Films on offer include Eva Nová, Irreplaceable, Underdog, In the Crosswind, Schmitke, Kaisa's Enchanted Forest, Image, Gelo, Silent Heart, The Move of the Penguin, Exiled, One Shot, Family Member, While Aya Was Sleeping, Family Party, A Noble Intention, Mom and Other Loonies in the Family, Santa, My Name Is Emily, Tomorrow After the War, Live, Hanna's Sleeping Dogs, and Dual.

      Tickets for the European Union Film Festival are $16, $14, $11, and $9 and can be bought online.
