The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors Festive Cantatas: J.S. Bach's Magnificat

      On December 18, 3 p.m., Festive Cantatas: J.S. Bach Magnificat comes to the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts (6265 Crescent Road, UBC).

      Presented by Early Music Vancouver, the program will see the Pacific Baroque Orchestra perform Bach's masterpiece for choir and orchestra, which was written for Christmas Vespers in 1723.

      The program will feature international guest soloists sopranos Molly Quinn and Danielle Sampson, mezzo-soprano Meg Bragle, tenor Aaron Sheehan, and baritone Jesse Blumberg.

      Concertgoers can also expect to hear Telemann's Concerto for Three Trumpets in D Major (TWV 54) and Bach's Cantata 140 (Wachet auf).
