When snow fell on December 5, many TransLink services were disrupted by icy road conditions.

While snow is falling today, there are less transit problems being reported so far.

Unlike on Monday when there were SkyTrain shutdowns due to the alarms being triggered by snow, TransLink is not reporting any such interruptions to service.

As on Monday, the SeaBus and West Coast Express are operating normally.

HandyDART is only running essential services today at all Lower Mainland locations today.

In Metro Vancouver, the following buses have been rerouted due to weather-related road conditions: Nos. 129 (Patterson), 129 (Edmonds), and 314 (Sunbury/Surrey Central).

The No. 5 Downtown bus was temporarily rerouted but is back on its regular route.

In West Vancouver, one bus has been rerouted: the No. 254 British Properties bus has a detour.

Visit the TransLink alerts webpage or the TransLink Twitter account for more details. Here are also some tips for commuters during the wintry weather.

Measures that TransLink has taken to prepare for the winter weather include trolley anti-icing trucks, SkyTrain de-icing, additional bus tire traction, switching from articulated buses to traditional buses when necessary, Canada Line anti-icing and sanding, and extra staff.

Here is a video of a news conference TransLink held on December 7 to explain some of their winter-weather-related procedures.

Meanwhile, Vancouver International Airport is reporting some cancellations of flights. Passengers are advised to check the status of their flights at the YVR website.

BC Ferries is not reporting any weather-related disruptions so far.
