From January 4 to 14, And Bella Sang With Us is presented at the Firehall Arts Centre (280 East Cordova).

Playwright Sally Stubbs's play celebrates Vancouver's first women police officers, constables Lurancy Harris and Minnie Miller.

Set in 1912, And Bella Sang With Us sees constables Harris and Miller arrive in the area now known as the Downtown Eastside and Chinatown in order to deal with the female morality issue.

In the course of their duties, they must deal with societal and family pressures, political corruption, and a volatile woman known as Bella.

The production is codirected by Sarah Rodgers and Ian Harmon, with music provided by pianist Patrick Courtin.

Tickets for And Bella Sang With Us are available online.
