This New Year's Day (January 1), you can join thousands of fellow swimmers and revelers at English Bay for the 97th annual Polar Bear Swim.

Those people who are daring enough to brave the chilly waters can dress up in a fancy costume and compete in the Peter Pantages Memorial 100-yard swim race.

Spectators and the faint of heart are welcome to come out to watch and delight in the spectacle.

Vancouver's Polar Bear Swim Club was started in 1920 and is one of the largest and oldest in the world.

In order to avoid lineups, participants are advised to download and complete the registration form.

Cash and food donations for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank will be collected onsite.

More information about Vancouver's Polar Bear Swim is available online.
