      Love is under threat.

Assaulted by saccharine cards, chocolate ads, and jewelry commercials, the emotion is in terrible danger of being permanently co-opted by big business. Which, as anyone with a heart will agree, is a travesty.

On a two man quest to #SaveLove, Gary Lachance and Tom Kuzma—the leaders of the highly successful Decentralized Dance Party (DDP)—are set to wrest love from the egregious grasp of centralized institutions, with the help of a banging playlist.

Gathering crowds of thousands, each DDP event places hundreds of boomboxes into the hands of the people. All tuned to the same radio frequency controlled by Lachance and Kuzma, the music blasters allow individuals—and couples—of all ages, creeds, and cultures to come together and dance in the streets as the mobile party roves around the city. Now with over 73 gigantic events across North America and Europe under their belt, the pair is back in Vancouver for Valentine’s Day.

Notoriously secretive about the launch location for the party, the DDP team have just released the official starting point for the event.

This year’s #SaveLove event will set off from the playground underneath the downtown side of the Cambie Street Bridge, at 7 p.m. on February 14.

Lachance, Kuzma, and their thousands of followers will advance on a pre-planned route that will take revellers all around the city, to dance in a number of unconventional locations. Concurrent events will be held in San Francisco, New York, and Austin, Texas.
