Three Vancouver-related home cooks make MasterChef Canada's top 12
Three of the home cooks that made it to the top 12 for the latest season of MasterChef Canada have connections to Vancouver.
CTV revealed the Season 4 competitors on March 3 after 24 home cooks traveled to Toronto to cook for the show's judges.
Among the top 12 cooks was Vancouver's Barrie McConachie, an employee relations consultant who auditioned with a lobster-infused rice cake with warm lobster salad and a roasted red pepper vinaigrette.
Thea VanHerwaarden, a broker who is originally from Comox, B.C., but now lives in Vancouver, was also chosen. Her audition dish consisted of seafood curry and cilantro lime rice.
Trevor Connie, a plumber whose audition dish was fancy rice, is originally from Vancouver but currently lives in Edmonton.
These three cooks will compete against the other nine cooks for a chance to win $100,000.
This season will include appearances by chef Jamie Oliver and last season's winner Mary Berg. New episodes of the series air on Thursdays at 9 p.m. on CTV.
