From March 31 to April 2, the Vancouver South African Film Festival takes over SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts (149 West Hastings).

For the seventh year, the event will showcase features, documentaries, and short films that explore the culture, history, and politics of South Africa.

Films of special note include opening film Vaya, African-language feature Noem My Skollie, the award-winning Nobody's Died Laughing, and short film "The Thinking Garden".

Proceeds support the educational-development work that Vancouver-based charity Education Without Borders has been doing in South African township schools and communities since 2002.

Tickets for the Vancouver South African Film Festival are available online.
