Video: Fixie Courier Bike Race in East Vancouver

Have you ever heard of an alleycat race?

That's a term for informal and unsanctioned cycling races put on by bike couriers on city streets.

They've been popular since the late 1990s and sometimes, the alleycat who comes last, or Dead Fucking Last, takes home a prize.

The term "fixie" applies to alleycats who like riding with a fixed gear.

This weekend, there was a fixie bike courier race in the industrial section of Strathcona near Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.
