Two of Vancouver’s leading chefs will once again meet onscreen when Top Chef Canada returns to TV this spring.

Trevor Bird, chef and owner of Fable and Fable Diner, and Curtis Luk, chef and owner of Mission, have been tapped to appear in the program’s fifth—and first-ever all-star—season, which will see 12 past Top Chef Canada contestants back for redemption and another shot at the grand prize.

Bird and Luk both appeared in Top Chef Canada’s second iteration, where they placed first runner-up and ninth, respectively. The Montreal-born Bird then went on to open Kitsilano’s Fable in 2012, where Luk initially served as chef de cuisine.

Luk, who is originally from Markham, Ontario, opened Mission in 2015.

The two will be joined by 10 other Top Chef Canada alumni on the show, including Calgary’s Connie DeSousa and Nicole Gomes and Saint John’s Jesse Vergen.

The chefs will compete for a $100,000 grand prize and a Monogram kitchen valued at more than $25,000. Chef and author Eden Grinshpan will serve as host, while Mark McEwan reprises his role of head judge alongside new faces Chris Nuttall-Smith, Janet Zuccarini, and Vancouver’s Mijune Pak.
