This week, survival horror series Outlast gets distro with Warner Bros., playing Bully on modern-day systems, and Night in the Woods is now available. But first, Xbox announces a game subscription service.

Xbox launches subscription for unlimited gaming

The Xbox Game Pass gives subscribers access to more than 100 Xbox One and Xbox 360 games for $10 a month.

The new service, which will be available later this spring, is only available for Xbox One owners.

But those who take advantage of it will be able to enjoy unlimited gaming of titles including Halo 5: Guardians, Mad Max, LEGO Bagtman, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and more. The selection will change each month, with games cycling in and out.

Games that are part of the Game Pass program are not streamed, but are actually available to download. If you decide you want to own the game you're playing you can purchase it at an exclusive discount.

Outlast Trinity packages survival horror for next-gen

      Outlast

Set in the fictional Mount Massive Asylum, the Outlast survival horror series uses jump scares and situational terror to great effect.

Developed by Red Barrels in Montreal, the first game was released in 2013 with the sequel, Outlast 2, releasing on digital platforms on April 25.

Last week, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced that on the same day it will release Outlast Trinity for PS4, Windows, and Xbox One on disc.

Trinity combines the two full games with Outlast Whistleblower, a prequel chapter.

Vancouver-made Bully arrives on modern-day platforms

      Bully

Back in the heyday of Vancouver's game developer company expansion, a little studio called Barking Dog was acquired by Rockstar Games, renowned for Grand Theft Auto and, more recently, the Red Dead games set in the "Wild West".

Rockster Vancouver developed and released one game, 2006's Bully. Set in a private boarding school, players take on the guise of a young man finding his place in the school's pecking order.

Originally released for PS2, the Scholarship Edition of Bully is now playable on Xbox One through backwards compatibility for anyone owning the Xbox 360 version. It was released for PS4 earlier this year.

Bully is also available for Android and iOS mobile devices, too. The Anniversary Edition, which includes the same features and gameplay as the Scholarship Edition, includes a graphical upgrade and controls that have been redesigned for touchscreen devices. It also supports friendly competition and head-to-head competitions with other players in the game's many minigames, which include frog dissection and solving word problems.

Indie-developed Night in the Woods now available

From game developer Alec Holowka, who makes games under the Infinite Ammo banner (Aquaria, Towerfall), Night in the Woods is a character-based adventure game for PS4 and Windows.

The game's protagonist is Mae Borowski, a cat, who drops out of college and returns to her hometown, only to realize how difficult it is to go home.

Through conversation and dialogue, Mae tries to reconnect with old friends and recapture her past life. And strange things are happening in the woods.
