If you're a fan of Thai food, a local chainlet has extended its reach into East Vancouver.

Thai Basil opened up its first location in the West End in 2008 at 1215 Thurlow Street, just off Davie Street.

Since then, they've also launched two locations in Kitsilano: one opened at 2184 Cornwall Street (right across from Kitsilano Beach) in 2013 and another at 3271 West Broadway in 2015.

Their small, casual, counter-service spots often fill fast but are also good for take-out or delivery. Their menus cover soup, salads, curries, noodles (including the ever-popular pad Thai, of course), and dishes such as Swimming Rama (steamed broccoli in Thai peanut sauce with meat or tofu) or pad gra prow (minced meat, chili, garlic, and basil).

Of course, a major draw is the price, as prices for entrées and noodles are $9.95 ($7.95 for vegetarian dishes). Lunch dishes range from $5.95 to $8.95. File that under cheap 'n' cheerful.

Venturing into the East Van market, their fourth location, decorated with Thai paraphernalia, opened up earlier this month at 1179 Commercial Drive.

The restaurant takes over from the short-lived Natsumi Ramen, which opened in July but has since closed.
