On April 9, 7 p.m., Max Raabe and Palast Orchester take the stage at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts (6265 Crescent Road, UBC).

In a Vancouver premiere performance, the German vocalist and his 12-piece ensemble will perform covers of classics by Irving Berlin and Cole Porter, as well as German standards by Kurt Weill and other composers of the Weimar Republic.

Since their North American debut in 2004, Max Raabe and Palast Orchester have sold out concert venues across Europe, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, and New York City.

As part of the Chan Centre Connects event series, music fans can take in a screening of American musical drama Cabaret (April 6, 7 p.m., at the Cinematheque) and a pre-concert talk on the Weimar Republic (April 9, 6:15 p.m., at the Royal Bank Cinema).

Tickets for Max Raabe and Palast Orchester start at $46 and are available online or by calling 604-822-2697.
