University RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing UBC student.
The 21-year-old Louis Gonick was last seen by a friend in the UBC area on April 16. He was last seen wearing a dark blue jacket, a dark blue shirt, blue jeans, and a grey scarf.
Gonick is a Hispanic male from South America who is 171 centimetres tall (5-feet 7-inches) and weighs 64 kilograms (141 pounds). He has brown hair and brown eyes.
He has never been reported missing before and his friends and family say it is unusual for him to be out of contact.
According to his cousin Noah Genatossio (of Seattle, Washington), Gonick has dual American and Ecuadorian citizenship, is involved with Spanish-speaking and political science communities at UBC, and sometimes took the train to Seattle for soccer games.
Anyone with information about Gonick is asked to contact the UBC RCMP at 604-224-1322 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. The file number is 2017-1131.
A Facebook page about the search for Gonick has been created, in addition to efforts by the Ecuadorian Students Association at UBC.
