The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors Vancouver Bird Week 2017

From May 6 to 13, Vancouver Bird Week 2017 takes place at various Metro Vancouver venues.

The third annual event is all about raising awareness of birds and their value to our environments and ourselves, as Vancouver itself supports over 250 species of birds year round and has four internationally designated Important Bird Areas nearby.

Highlights of Vancouver Bird Week 2017 include walks, talks, workshops, and free birdy activities for all ages as part of a larger initiative called the Vancouver Bird Strategy, a collaboration that seeks to create the conditions for native birds to thrive in Vancouver.

The election for an official City Bird will begin on April 27, with the winning bird being announced on May 16. You can cast your vote online and at ballot boxes throughout the city.
