While there are LGBT performers peppered throughout the schedule of events at the 2017 Verses Festival of Words, here are some queer-specific events to consider.

Sounds Like Fire: Femme4Femme will be held tomorrow (April 25) from 8 to 10:30 p.m. at the Cultch (1895 Venables Street). This showcase will feature four fierce femmes: Vancouver's Amber Dawn, Toronto and Oakland's Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, Montreal's Kama La Mackerel, and Toronto's Kai Cheng Thom.

Thom's poetry collection a place called No Homeland will have its Vancouver launch at this event.

Meanwhile, Radical (Re)Imaginings: Visions of a Queer Future Showcase will offer a showcase of work by youth, along with poets Amal Rana, Molly Billows, and jaye simpson.

It'll be held at Havana Theatre (1212 Commercial Drive) from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday (April 29).

Some of the works will be from the workshop with youth mentors Billows and Rana held a day prior (11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., April 28) at Havana Theatre, and some will be from the Tomorrow is Ours: IBPOC Futurisms workshop series held by Billows and Rana over the last few months.

The festival kicked off on April 20 and runs until Sunday (April 30).
