Got Craft: Veespoke's locally made scarves add sparkle to ensembles

In anticipation of Got Craft?’s 10th-anniversary spring edition, taking place on May 6 and 7 at the Maritime Labour Centre (1880 Triumph Street), we’re getting to know some of the fair’s 75-plus independent designers and makers.

Today, we meet Valerie Braacx, founder of Veespoke.

      Who are you?

Hi, I’m Valerie, the founder of Veespoke, and mom of two boys. I started Veespoke as a creative outlet during my maternity leave in 2013 and haven’t looked back.

      What do you do?

Veespoke is a product of my passion for sewing, my love of scarves, and my desire to help others find the perfect accessory! Every scarf is handmade by me in my home studio in East Vancouver. I am constantly searching for new fabrics and patterns, so that you can find exactly what you are looking for.

Veespoke's floral-print scraves offer a refreshing punch of spring in dreary weather conditions.

What's your favourite item you stock?

With this dreary weather, the spring blanket scarf has been a constant companion of mine. I also love a floral infinity to brighten an outfit and will the sunshine to come out.

What products will you offer at Got Craft?

I will have a large selection of infinity scarves in florals, pinks, silks, and some dude-friendly patterns too. I’ll also have the first of my spring blanket scarves available— brighter colors and lighter in weight than my heavy winter scarves, but still warm enough for chilly nights or air-conditioned offices.

Tickets to Got Craft? are $3 in advance online or $5 at the door. For more information about the event, or to purchase tickets, click here.
