The elimination of Montreal's Aaron Polsky on the April 27 episode of MasterChef Canada has revealed the top five home chefs for the current season.

Polsky left the show after failing to impress the judges with a harissa plate during a vegetable tajine challenge.

Interestingly, the remaining individuals are all from either Vancouver or Edmonton, meaning that the winner will be a western Canadian home cook.

The remaining competitors for Season 4 are:

      • Trevor Connie, from Edmonton (originally from Vancouver)
      • Barrie McConachie, from Vancouver
      • Mai Nguyen, from Edmonton
      • Thea VanHerwaarden, from Vancouver (originally from Comox, B.C.)
      • Miranda Wasstrom, from Edmonton
      Barrie McConachie

In the next episode, which will air on Thursday (May 4) at 9 p.m. on CTV, the competitors must use one of the judges' favourite cooking techniques to create their own salmon dish.

In the elimination challenge, the cooks will only be able to select five ingredients to make a restaurant-quality dish—with a twist.
