MONDAY: American folk-rock singer-songwriter Marc Cohn tells the story of his musical life through song and images at Norman Rothstein Theatre.

WEDNESDAY: American thrash-metal band Testament plays the Commodore, with guests Sepultura and Prong.

THURSDAY: local musicians and dancers N’nato Camara, Kocasalle Dioubate, Kesseke Yeo, Alhassan, Kofi Gbolonyo, and Esinu Gbolonyo perform at the two-day VanAfrica event at Roundhouse Community Centre.

THURSDAY: Ottawa blues-rock band Blast From the Sun plays at Falconetti's East Side Grill.

THURSDAY: local country ensemble Jack Mercer and the Whiskey Devils plays the Fox Cabaret, with guests Clay Ravens and Cassidy Waring.

THURSDAY: the Roedde House Jazz series presents Paul Rushka's Present Past--featuring bassist Rushka, saxophonist John Bentley, and guitarist Tristan Paxton--at Roedde House Museum.

FRIDAY: Irish rock quartet U2 kicks off its Joshua Tree Tour 2017 at BC Place, performing the 1987 album in its entirety, with guests Mumford & Sons.

FRIDAY: the Rogue Folk Club presents John Reischman and the Jaybirds at St. James Hall.

FRIDAY: American rapper and producer Oddisee plays the Biltmore with full band Good Company.

FRIDAY: Canadian spaceship commander Chris Hadfield shares a selection of stories, images, and songs that celebrate Canada's 150th birthday at the Orpheum Theatre.

FRIDAY: Sounds of Solidarity fundraising concert at the Rickshaw features music by Alita Dupray, Peach Pit, BabyHarry/Kings of Soul, Kimmortal, Steeven K. and Da Godz, and MC Kwasi Thomas, with proceeds to help displaced Syrian refugees living in Athens, Greece.

FRIDAY: Canadian blues-roots singer-songwriter Shiloh Lindsey plays LanaLou's, with guests the Crooked and the Scott Paulley Duo.

FRIDAY: Dixon Divas Benefit at the Sanctuary in Burnaby features jazz music by Dee Daniels, the Dan Reynolds Trio, Gabriel Mark Hasselbach, and Michael Creber, with proceeds to Dixon Transition House, which supports women and children fleeing domestic violence.
