From May 29 to June 4, the Vancouver International Children's Festival takes over various theatres on Granville Island.
The 40th annual event will present kid-friendly theatre, dance, music, circus, puppetry, and storytelling through 93 shows performed by 13 professional performing artists from as far away as Mexico and Australia.
This year, the Vancouver International Children's Festival features a legacy-inspired lineup including Canadian kids' entertainer Fred Penner and guests Charlotte Diamond, Norman Foote, and Rick Scott. Other highlights include a birthday party and all-ages shows by Afrique en Cirque, Aché Brasil, Grug and the Rainbow, and Pulse.
Festival artistic and executive director Katharine Carol says that "while the Festival has evolved over the years, it continues to deliver new and diverse, quality live performances that open a world of creative possibilities. A world in which future generations can build on a passion for the arts that we share with them at the Festival."
Kids and their families can also take part in over 19 arts activities at the Activity Village, where they can explore their imagination and enhance their creativity while having fun together as a family.
Tickets for the Vancouver International Children's Festival start at $12.50 and are available online or in person. Each performance pass include a ticket for the Activity Village. Tickets for the Activity Village only are $6 and are available at the festival.
