Canada Place at the Port of Vancouver has announced that it will be presenting a number of new celebrations this year in honour of Canada's 150th birthday.

On June 27, Canada Place, in partnership with the Department of Canadian Heritage and the Port of Vancouver, will host UNITE!, featuring music by headliners Alex Cuba and Delhi2Dublin, performances by dancers and drummers, workshops, and interactive experiences.

Canada Place will also showcase a National Aboriginal event featuring music by Crystal Shawanda on June 17, as well as Feté Francophone on June 24.

As part of Canada Day at Canada Place, festivities on July 1 will include a fireworks show, a kids' zone, a citizenship ceremony, and music by Sam Roberts, Fefe Dobson, Hey Ocean!, Dragonette, Emerson Drive, Madeline Merlo, and the Matinee. On July 2, hungry Canadians can take in a pancake breakfast and a Canada 150 parade.

Vancouver Fraser Port Authority community relations and communications manager Gillian Behnke says that "with our expanded Canada Day at Canada Place celebrations, we are thrilled to offer so many activities this year for our community to come together and recognize the sesquicentennial."

Following Canada Day, Canada Place will launch a summer series of free programming at the newly renovated North Point, including Monday evening Zumba classes, the Waterfront Cinema on Thursday nights, and Picnics on the Point each Friday.
