      Slinky Hell by Jacob Samuel Book Launch

      When and where: May 29 at Kino Cafe at 7 p.m.
      What to expect: A month after taping his first TV performance for the CBC at the 2017 Winnipeg Comedy Festival, Vancouver comedian and cartoonist Jacob Samuel will be launching his second book of humour cartoons, Slinky Hell, on May 29. In addition to being a standup comic who has appeared on national TV and radio, Jacob is also an internationally published humour cartoonist who has published cartoons in The New Yorker, Harvard Business Review, Barron's, Geist, The Feathertale Review, Prospect (UK), Wirtschaftswoche (Germany), and on cbc.ca/comedy.

      What to expect: Canada's only all Queer Improv troupe takes to the stage at XY Monday night at 8pm. This week the show is hosted by Julia Stretch. She wrangles a cast of Sarah Dawn Pledge (The Fictionals), Robert Mackie (Instant Theatre), David Borja, Shane Edwards and Eric Buelow. You'll see a first half of various improv games you know and love, plus a few with a unique QueerProv twist. The second half of the show is a long form that will take you on an entirely improvised journey you won't forget.

      Paul Anthony's Talent Time: 3rd Annual Summer Trip

      When and where: June 1 at Rio Theatre 8 p.m.
      What to expect: Vancouver's long running comedy/variety show ends their 9th season with a mystical journey under the guidance of psychedelic entheogens. They will not confirm or deny the presence of mind expanding drugs but this usually all-ages show is only admitting people over the age of 19 for this episode. After the space is blessed with sage, comedians Paul Anthony and Ryan Beil welcome a bevy of guests with the intention of testing and expanding your mind.
