The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors the Vancouver Folk Music Festival

      From July 13 to 16, the Vancouver Folk Music Festival takes over Jericho Beach Park.

      In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the annual musical showcase will feature over 60 traditional and contemporary world, folk, and roots artists from around the world.

      New to the festival this year are Bahamas, the Revivalists, La Santa Cecilia, Jim Byrnes, the Sojourners, Leonard Podolak, Nell Robinson and Jim Nunally Band, Nick Sherman, and the Funk Hunters.

      Main-stage acts include Cold Specks, Blick Bassy, John K. Samson and the Winter Wheat, Rhiannon Giddens, and Billy Bragg and Joe Henry (July 14), Blind Pilot, Aoife O'Donovan and Noam Pikelny, Mbongwana Star, Kathleen Edwards, and Barenaked Ladies (July 15), and Sidestepper, Shawn Colvin, Bahamas, and the Revivalists (July 16).

      The Vancouver Folk Music Festival runs 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on July 13, 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. on July 14, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on July 15, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on July 16.

      Tickets for the Vancouver Folk Music Festival are available online. Early bird pricing ends this Friday (June 9) at 11:59 p.m.
