Get ready for E3, and how you can play Super Mario Odyssey six months early

      Next week is the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which is like Christmas for video gamers. The Straight will be there, as usual, reporting back from the major pre-E3 media events as well as bringing news from the Los Angeles Convention Centre.

      You can also watch many of the events yourself. All times listed below are Pacific Daylight Time.

      Get hands-on with Super Mario Odyssey

      Nintendo is also giving gamers in the Lower Mainland a chance to try out Super Mario Odyssey next week. The game, in development for the Nintendo Switch, doesn't release until December, but a playable demo will be at the Nintendo Kiosk in Metropolis at Metrotown:

      • Tuesday (June 13), noon to 9 p.m.
      • Wednesday (June 14), 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
      • Thursday (June 15), 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

      There are a limited number of slots available to try Super Mario Odyssey, and you need to register in person at the Nintendo Kiosk, which is located near Atrium Court in Metropolis. Registration opens on Saturday (June 10) at noon.
