      Comedy Show at The Blarney Stone: A Fundraiser

      When and where: June 13 at The Blarney Stone at 8:30 p.m.
      What to expect: Sure, laughter's the best medicine, but sometimes laughter pays for the real medicine. Between cooking and comedy I, Alex Sparling, spent alot of time in bars and I've met alot of bar regulars. But I've never met any as loved by both the staff and the other patrons, as my friend Tiffin. Whether it's for a shot of whiskey or a story, he's a tough guy to walk away from at the end of shift. Unfortunately his mother was recently diagnosed with cancer. Right now he needs our help and Blarney Stone has found the perfect way to do it.

      The Roast and Deportation of Karl Sullivan

      When and where: June 16 at Yagger's Kitsilano at 9 p.m.
      What to expect: After 2 years in Vancouver of performing shitty puns, crude racial humour and giving advice to people who didn’t ask for it, Karl’s working holiday Visa will expire and he thankfully will have to leave Vancouver and go back to Ireland. What better way to celebrate and say goodbye to Vancouver’s most successful Irish Comedian (By default) then to spend two hours making fun of him.

      What to expect: This multi comedy platform entertainment engages audiences to join in on the comedy show. Disguised as a Rock Paper Scissors tournament, RPC is 6 years running as the funnest thing to do on a Monday in Vancouver.

      QueerProv Monday

      When and where: June 12 at XY at 8 p.m.
      What to expect: Monday, June 12 will be the one year anniversary of the Pulse shooting in Orlando, Florida, which took the lives of 49 people. Last year, we raised over 400 dollars during a QueerProv show and we gave that money to OnePulse Orlando to help the victims of that tragedy. During this coming Monday's QueerProv show, we will be doing so again. The money will again be used to help those affected and help construct a memorial. So please come out, enjoy some uproarious improv comedy, and support this absolutely worthwile cause.

      Seven at Seven Improv Comedy Showcase

      When and where: June 5 at Seven Dining Lounge 7 p.m.
      What to expect: Blending rapid-fire humor with character-driven storytelling, The Radical have been producing and performing shows throughout Greater Vancouver, including their signature monthly team-up show Improv Voltron. They have made multiple guest appearances with The Fictionals and took part in this year's Instant Theatre Cagematch series.

      Laughter is the Best Medicine Improv Show

      When and where: June 16 at Steveston-London Secondary School at 7 p.m.
      What to expect: The 11th Annual "Laughter is the Best Medicine" improvised-comedy show is just around the corner! This year, all profits will benefit the Overdose Prevention Society (OPS), whose peer-based services were offered in response to the fentanyl crisis affecting our community. We are thrilled to help them continue to save lives.

      Shakespeare After Dark: The Anniversary Show

      When and where: June 17 at Rio Theatre 8 p.m.
      What to expect: Shakespeare After Dark is the highbrow fusion of Shakespeare served with a side of improvisational mischief. In the first half, you’ll witness a scene from the Bard utterly monkey-wrenched by an utterly punch-drunk cast member leaving the rest of the cast to improvise around them. Then, stick around for the second half where the cast lays the booze aside to serve a straight up Shakespearean tragedy – based on your suggestions.

      The SuperDad Show

      When and where: June 18 at The Improv Centre 2 p.m.
      What to expect: SuperDad is a special show in celebration of a special guy – your Dad. The SuperDad Show pokes fun at all the foibles and complexities of what it means to be a father today. Give the ‘ol man’ some belly laughs instead of more headaches and bring him down to The Improv Centre for an afternoon of improv hilarity. Besides, he needs something to take his mind off the fact that the Canucks didn’t make the play-offs. Warning: The SuperDad Show may contain dad jokes.

      What to expect: 1994 was a big year for Vancouver. On a tiny stage in Gastown a band of Vancouver’s finest young comedic minds began to build what would become Instant Theatre Company: the home for alternative theatrical improv in Vancouver.
