From July 6 to 15, the 28th annual Dancing on the Edge festival takes over various Vancouver venues.

In pushing the frontiers of contemporary dance, the festival will play host to over 25 choreographers and over 80 dance artists.

Dance fans can expect to take in performances by Beijing Modern Dance Company, Helen Simard, tiger princess dance projects, MascallDance, coriography theatre, Mutable Subject, Co.ERASGA, Pichet Klunchun Dance Company, Kinesis Dance somatheatro, Aeriosa Dance Society, and Spakwus Slulem.

Other highlights include a screening of select films from the Festival of Recorded Movement, dialogue sessions with choreographers Natasha Bakht, Yvonne Ng, and Olivia C. Davies, and a discussion of dance dramaturgy with Dancing on the Edge director Donna Spencer.

Spencer says that "Dancing on the Edge, over its 29 year history, has introduced our audiences to the majority of leading B.C. dance creators. We encourage audiences to look at dance from a different perspective and venture to the edge with us! We invite you to sample the richness of contemporary dance from across Canada and afar."

This year, participating venues include the Firehall Arts Centre, Stanley Park, KW Production Studio, the Roundhouse-Turntable Plaza, and the Djavad Mowafaghian World Arts Centre.
