While East Vancouver will celebrate its LGBT community with East Side Pride on Saturday (June 24), it'll be Surrey's turn the day after.

Surrey held their first march last year, and will continue the new tradition this year.

The Surrey LGBTQ Pride March will take place on Sunday (June 25) from 10 to 11 a.m., starting at Surrey City Hall Plaza (13450 104 Avenue, Surrey).

Due to construction, the march won't take place on the road on University Drive but will instead be on the east sidewalk of the street.

The march will proceed to Holland Park (at Old Yale Road) where the 18th annual Surrey Pride Festival will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The entertainment lineup will include Drum N Dirty, musician and singer Kevin Armstrong, the Motley Cougars, the Skylar Jax Band, the Windys, and gay glam band The Tee. Meanwhile, food trucks at the festival will include Don's Smokies, Kaboom Box, Reel Mac and Cheese, and Old Country Pierogi.

The event will occur on the same that Black Lives Matter will be holding their March on Pride protest in Vancouver's West End.

The march will start at Emery Barnes Park (at Seymour and Davie streets) and will proceed along Davie Street to Alexandra Park (at Burnaby and Bidwell streets on Beach Avenue) down at English Bay.

This march is being held to protest the participation of the police in the forthcoming Vancouver Pride parade, which will be held on August 6.
