Vancouver Canadians clinch playoff spot

The Vancouver Canadians’ 7-6 win over the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes on Saturday night clinched a first half title for the team in the North Division of the Northwest League.

This means that the C’s will be in the playoffs near the beginning of September, no matter what happens during the rest of the season.

The C’s now have seven days to decide if they want to host Game 1 or Games 2 and 3 of the first round, best-of-three series.

Here’s betting that the strong attendance numbers at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium will be too much to resist hosting a possible two games instead of one, even if it means letting their opponent start the series at home.

The team hasn’t been to the playoffs since the 2014 season, a first-round exit that followed three straight pennant wins from 2011-13.
