Attention, B.C. home cooks: MasterChef Canada announces casting call for Season 5

In the last season of MasterChef Canada, all three finalists had connections to Vancouver: two cooks lived in Vancouver while a third, who lives in Edmonton, hailed from our city. The latter, Trevor Connie, wound up winning Season 4.

Previously, Surrey's David Jorge won Season 2.

B.C. home cooks now have an opportunity to continue proving that our province has the winning edge on the culinary competition.

The show has opened its casting call for Season 5 (for the 2017-2018 broadcast season).

Applications are being accepted online until 11:59 p.m. ET (8:59 PT) on September 17. Interviews will take place in the fall.

Production will begin this fall in Toronto for a new 12-episode season. Michael Bonacini, Alvin Leung, and Claudio Aprile will all return as judges and mentors.

The winner will receive the title of MasterChef Canada along with a $100,000 cash prize.
