In a city full of good food at new dining establishments, you can expect the culinary sphere to be accompanied by a handful of restaurant awards.

Air Canada’s enRoute magazine has named the top contenders in the running for its 2017 Canada’s Best New Restaurants awards, and four of them are from Vancouver.

Fairmont Pacific Rim’s Botanist (1038 Canada Place) in downtown Vancouver, Cacao (1989 West 1st Avenue) and Mak N Ming (1629 Yew Street) in Kitsilano, and Fayuca (1009 Hamilton Street) in Yaletown have all made the cut.

Two other eateries in the province are also on the list: Summit (600 Ebadora Lane) in Malahat, and the Salted Vine (37991 2nd Avenue) in Squamish.

The nominations are put forward by notable individuals in the food industry across the country, including local experts such as chefs Vikram Vij and David Hawksworth.

Last year, Chinatown’s Kissa Tanto was named Canada’s Best New restaurant.
