Check out these tattooists ready to ink some skin at the Vancouver Mural Festival tattoo pop-up
With their focus on putting permanent art on large spaces, tattoos and murals aren’t a million miles apart. Fun fact: if you stretch out all the skin covering your body, it would cover around 22 square feet—which is a sizable proportion of the painting currently going up at 5th and Alberta.
The Vancouver Mural Festival has seen the parallels between wall art and the body as a canvas. Launching a tattoo pop-up as part of the Mount Pleasant Street Party accompanying the event, the organization is giving attendees the option to get inked by some of the city’s top artists.
Setting up shop at the Burrard Arts Foundation (108 East Broadway) from midday until 5 p.m. on Saturday (August 12), the pop-up will feature 11 pro tattooists open to walk-ins. Spaces will be given on a first come, first served basis, so it’s recommended that those up for a new piece of body art come early to reserve their spot.
Stuck for inspiration? Check out some of the attending artists’ past work to get a flavour of their style.
