ABC Book & Comic Emporium almost ready to pack it in

Located at the busy intersection of Broadway and Granville, the mood is solemn at ABC Book & Comic Emporium.

The institution, which as Vancouver’s oldest used bookstore has been in operation for 65 years, was originally slated to close on November 30. However, a stay of execution meant the store was able to stay open until December 31. Now, a sign on the door indicates that the business might still be going until January 15.

Still filled with a bewildering array of comics, fiction, magazines, nonfiction, DVDs, and VHS tapes (despite months of steeply discounted prices and increased sales), ABC Book & Comic Emporium will always have a place in the hearts of local book lovers. And with the vast majority of the merchandise set at 70% off regular price, there’s plenty of reason to find new treasures and rediscover some old favourites.

Man, I've grown with that bookstore...I'm glad to hear that they are still going to be open till January 17, they are my favorite bookstore, I remember them when they use to be on the corner of Davie and Granville. As usual, its always sad to see a bookstore go, especially one that's been around for such a longtime and has grown with the downtown community. I'll miss their three cats and their crazy selections of books...I'm totally sad to hear that they are going to close.
