Aim to misbehave with Joss Whedon aficionados at Geeks After Dark
On August 11, Joss Whedon aficionados will gather at the Cellar nightclub (1006 Granville) for Geeks After Dark: Aim to Misbehave, a night that celebrates the American writer-producer-director and his sci-fi/fantasy creations.
Whedon is known for TV series and cult-hit projects like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Dollhouse, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, and Angel. Recently, he's begun reaching a larger audience with movies like The Cabin in the Woods and Marvel's the Avengers.
Malcolm Reynolds and Jayne Cobb will be hosting the evening of geekery, which includes a trivia game and two costume contests (one for Whedon-specific characters, and one for general geekery). Things will get a little more suggestive with nerd-burlesque performances from Sherry Hymen, Whatshername, Chai Tea, Lace Cadet, and Tawdry Audrey.
Tickets for Geeks After Dark: Aim to Misbehave are $12, but if you come dressed as an evil genius, space cowboy, vampire hunter, superhero, or madman (or any other Whedon character) admission can be yours for $10. More info can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
