A new restaurant has opened below popular nightspot FiveSixty (560 Seymour Street). Taste Resto-Lounge features Italian-inspired dishes paired with a curated wine list and bespoke cocktails.

The menu created by executive chef Renaldo Decembrini consists of sharing plates ($11 to $19), and 80 percent of the ingredients used at Taste are locally sourced and organic. Highlights include the rich and indulgent house-smoked chicken liver pate with capicollo, sweet pickled beets, spiced pesto, and sticky onion marmalade; the OceanWise spiced cornmeal-encrusted soft-shell crab, served with clarified butter, yam fritters, and chimmichurri; and the fresh tomato, bocconcini, cucumber, and balsamic pesto salad—one of several vegetarian options on the menu.

Diners can also choose between three charcuterie platters ($16 to $32), which include items such as house-smoked B.C. duck, smoked oysters, prosciutto, artisanal cheeses, and standout sweet pickled beets. Every dish on the menu is paired with a red or white wine ($8 to $13 by the glass, $38 to $75 by the bottle) and one of eight craft cocktails ($10 to $13).

The room features a long bar and tables for two or four up front, and a communal dining table for 20 and open kitchen in the back. The décor includes a rotating art collection and pink chandeliers throughout. Taste Resto-Lounge is open Tuesday to Saturday from 4 p.m., and will feature live DJ music Thursday to Saturday.
