Babz Chula Lifeline for Artists Society rallying support for Kelly-Ruth Mercier and David Richmond-Peck

The Babz Chula Lifeline for Artists Society is looking to raise funds for actors Kelly-Ruth Mercier and David Richmond-Peck to help care for their baby girl.

Mercier and Richmond-Peck adopted a daughter, Piper Rose, in February, who has faced serious health challenges that have necessitated extended hospital stays. While their Piper’s current prognosis is positive, the society wants to relieve the family’s financial pressures so that they can focus on taking care of her.

A party is being held tomorrow (July 8) evening at CBC Studio 700 (700 Hamilton Street) from 8 p.m. to midnight, with a minimum suggested donation at the door of $10. The adults-only event, emceed by actor/comedienne Ellie Harvie, includes eclectic cabaret/folk by Erin Aubrey; the jazz/comedy stylings of Amber-Kelly Mackereth & the 3rd Hit; and blues/rock from No Sinner, featuring vocalist Colleen Rennison.

The Babz Chula Lifeline for Artists Society, which was originally established in 2008 to help support Chula in her battle against cancer, was expanded after her death in May 2010 to help other financially struggling artists with health issues.

For those who can’t attend tomorrow’s event, donations can be made through the society’s website.
