Bob Dylan is going to Cranbrook

The 71-year-old musician originally known as Robert Zimmerman will perform in the Kootenays this August, his only B.C. summer concert.

Bob Dylan will play in Cranbrook on August 12.

There's no word on whether the Minnesota Mumbler's decision to bypass Vancouver had anything to do with Straight writer Alexander Varty's ho-hum review of his last Vancouver performance, which took place on October 24, 2008 at Rogers Arena.

Maybe Dylan chose the Kootenays because of the high number of former U.S. draft dodgers (including retired politician Corky Evans) living in that part of the world.

Whatever the reason, it's creating some excitement within the pages of the local newspaper there.

This should be an excellent concert... I've attended many concerts in Cranbrook (As I live here) and it will be a great venue for him. It sold out super fast too! Can't wait to see him :)
