Canada's Top Ten: Canadian cinematic cornucopia coming to the Cinematheque

Yesterday I posted some good news about the First Weekend Club. While we're on the subject of Canadian film, here's more good news: Yessiree, folks, Canada's Top Ten is coming to town.

The annual Canadian cinematic cream of the crop will screen at the Cinematheque (1131 Howe Street) from January 18 to February 4.

The lineup includes films that have previously played here that you may have missed in theatres, such as Deepa Mehta's Midnight's Children or David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis.

But there are also films which have not yet had their theatrical run in Vancouver, like the transgender drama Laurence Anyways (which screened at the Vancouver International Film Festival) or the sex comedy My Awkward Sexual Adventure (which screened at the Whistler Film Festival).

As an added bonus, Toronto International Film Festival artistic director Cameron Bailey will introduce the screenings of Stories We Tell and Rebelle (which is Canada's official best foreign language Oscar entry).

For full details, visit the Cinematheque website.
