Another day, another new restaurant. Ensemble Restaurant and Bar opened a few days ago just off of the Robson Street shopping district, and Tableau Bar Bistro began serving casual French-inspired fare in Coal Harbour last week. Last night, another neighbourhood got a tasty boost with the opening of Campagnolo Roma (2297 East Hastings Street).

Campagnolo Roma is sister restaurant to chef Robert Belcham and partner Tom Doughty's Campagnolo (1020 Main Street) and Refuel (1944 West 4th Avenue). The restaurant serves classic rustic Italian dishes in a casual dining environment—similar to Campagnolo, but with a greater focus on the flavours of Rome.

The dinner menu includes a selection of antipasti ($6-$18), including local octopus salad, seasonal olives, and salumi. Heartier dishes that are perfect for sharing include five pastas ($12-$18) and five pizzas ($10.50-$15). For dessert, choose from classic tiramisu, honey panna cotta, a refreshing affugato, or a chocolate almond torte.

The bright, modern design of the room, complete with light wood paneling and splashes of colour, complement the uncomplicated and fresh menu.
