Christy Clark says it's better to be a MILF than a cougar
With the onslaught of end of the year lists and an excess of holiday drinking, I'm unsurprised that a December 19 radio interview with Christy Clark in which she answers the age-old question, "Is it better to be a MILF or a cougar?", didn't even make a blip on my radar.
But that's a real thing that did happen.
In an interview with 98.9 JetFM in Courtenay, B.C., morning host Drex asked the premier "what it’s like being a MILF?", ostensibly on behalf of a caller.
However, instead of getting offended at the incredibly sexist question, Ms. Clark just laughed. And then answered the question.
"You know, I take that as a compliment … you know, it’s one of those things. Better a MILF than a cougar … so tell [the caller] I said thank you."
Really, Premier Clark? I know you're not a great advocate for families or children or, well, anything else, but can't you at least advocate for yourself? The only acceptable answer to a question like that is, "That's inappropriate" or "You got the premier of the province on your radio show and all you can do is reduce her to a sexual object?"
You can jump down my throat about how Clark's "just got a great sense of humour!", but before you do, stop and consider the fact that male politicians don't have to answer this kind of bullshit. Thinking you can ask the premier of our province whether she's a MILF or getting up in arms about her cleavage is nothing more than pathetic.
And Drex? Stop it. You're giving my hometown a worse name than it already has.
The radio station has since pulled the audio from its website, "out of respect for the premier and the families in [Drex's] audience."

I think you're trying to make an issue out of something that isn't an issue. While you might not be considered sexually appealing, other people are and they deal with the questions in stride.
I was going to ask how someone could not possibly know, especially a reporter about how attractive male politicians have to deal with these situations, I noticed at the top it said this is a blog. That explains the "make a massive deal out of nothing so you can get clicks".
You should go work for Jezebel, this kind of article is something I'd expect from them.

Honestly, is it any wonder we women have a problem with this type of "leadership".
A simple Let's just move this interview along - ha ha would have nipped this in the bud. But she chose to comment, and to comment using a horrible condensing term towards women. Great role model!
She might feel that a common touch is needed to show she's also, despite sending her kids to private school, one of the great unwashed. What she is not getting though, is that as Premier she is also supposed to be a role model and accord some dignity to the office she holds. But then again, maybe if she had actually been elected Premier we might have seen a more decorous Ms Clark.
Last time I checked, CC had a full compliment of Communications staffers attending to her itinerary...and scheduling a chit-chat with a DJ on an obscure FM station on Vancouver Island shows that NOBODY is doing their job - let alone screening on behalf of the Premier: Re; doesn't fit our demographic in terms of targeting key voters and the station has NO news director, therefore the interview is/will be a total fluff piece...She got exactly what she deserved - notoriety over something totally devoid of substance - which is the main planking of her political platform - that being - devoid of substance!!
'Excellent poise'?! You must be jesting! Either you don't actually hear Christy's comments, or your rose coloured glasses put Hubble to shame.
1. What is your measurements?
2. What is your bra cup size?
3. What is your favourite brand of lingerie?
4. Would you ever wear a thong bikini?
Those are answers that I hope to one day find out :)
When asked an inappropriate question, she choose to just answer it and move on, rather than make a federal case about it. She made the assumption that the host was making a (bad) compliment... fine. The question didn't deserve twenty seconds of time... so hat's off to her for taking the tact which didn't give it more than twenty seconds. Refusing to answer, railing against the inappropriateness of the question, etc. would have easily wasted minutes on this. Give a quick silly answer, get past it, and worry about important questions like the economy, the pipeline, health care, education talks, ferries, etc.
Premier Clark is not the language police, the women's liberation advocate, etc. I'm paying her to govern. If someone else wants to go after the host for this... go ahead. Just don't waste the Premier's time and my money on it.
And Ms Clark and her handlers are wondering how to woo the women's vote!?
